What are your business hours?
Hours of operation for the adoption center:
Monday thru Friday: 10:00 am – 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm – 8 pm
Weekends- 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm
If you need to reach us during these times and during off-hours, you can call or send us an email.
Do you offer veterinary advice?
No. We can provide names of veterinarians in the area, but we are not medical experts and therefore cannot advise in health-related questions. If your pet is sick, we recommend that you visit your veterinarian.
Adoption-related questions
Where can I find HFA animals to adopt ?
You can find our rescued animals on the web (visit Petfinder and our foster-pets blog) or in our adoption-center (located at the Fairless Hills ShopSmart).
What is the adoption fee and why is it necessary?
Your $100.00 donation includes testing for feline leukemia and AIDS, your new pet’s age appropriate shots, treatment for fleas, worms, common eye infections, claw trimming, and having your pet spayed or neutered. (HFA requires all our adopted pets to be spayed/neutered. If your pet is too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption. HFA will refund you $75.00 for a spay and $50.00 for a neuter after receiving, from the adopter, the spay/neuter certificate from his/her veternairian.
I filled out my adoption application. Why can’t I take my pet home right away?
Our adoption process typically takes about 3-5 days. During that time, we check your references, approve your application, and prepare your pet for adoption. The waiting period also allows you to consider the practical aspects of adoption, and yourself and your family for your new pet. HFA has a 99.9% no-return record, which we attribute to this time of preparation.

Are donations to HFA tax deductible?
Yes. All donations to HFA are tax-deductible.
Do you collect receipts from other Shop Rites?
No. We can only accept Brown Family Shop-Rite Receipts.
